unic_mini_crane

This Picture of the Week has been sent in by crane manufacturer Unic Cranes Europe. The picture is of a 2.9 tonne capacity Unic URW-376 spider crane that is being used to carry out maintenance and repair work on Chinook helicopters at the main British military base at Camp Bastion, Afghanistan and at RAF Odiham in the UK. The Ministry of Defence purchased two of these cranes in late 2012. We are always on the lookout for other great pictures like this as candidates for our picture of the month contest, so please send your entries to the editor alex.dahm@khl.com whenever you have something suitable.

“It is a very important tactical and strategic move for us. We have a great fit with this company. Shantui is one of China’s leading manufacturers of earthmoving equipment and the company is looking to develop its presence in the country’s mobile crane market. Similarly Manitowoc has been developing its own presence in the Chinese truck crane market and we are now ready to move to the next stage of development with a stronger and larger partner.”

Eric Etchart took over as president and general manager at Manitowoc Cranes in 2007. He has been in the crane industry for almost 30 years, since 1983, first at PPM and later at Potain in France. Etchart moved to Asia in 1997 with Potain before it was bought by Manitowoc in 2001Eric Etchart, Manitowoc Cranes president
