The World Demolition Summit
was held to general acclaim at the Hotel Okura in Amsterdam on Friday 4 November. A high quality conference programme had been assembled for the day, comprising a mix of project reports and other topics of significance to the industry, with speakers and delegates attending from four continents. The individual presentations are available for download from this site.
The 2011 World Demolition Awards
were presented to the deserving winners during a Gala Dinner at the Demolition Summit. More than 250 figures from the industry were present at the event, where the industry celebrated the highlights of 2010-2011. The top project award, Contract of the Year, went to Coleman and Company after considerable debate among the judges, for its work on Phase 1 of the Birmingham New Street railway station redevelopment. The standard of this year’s entries was evidenced by the fact that in two categories there were joint winners, which the judges were unable to separate. In addition, six ‘Highly Commended’ awards were made, with a record three being awarded in the Contract of the Year category, evidence of the highly competitive nature of this Award.
