I am concerned about the dangers of operating the diesel-electric system in deep water. It's not unusual to operate a crawler in the sea, or in water up to a metre or more deep. I wonder about the dangers of electrocution or simply destruction of components via short circuit if even the smallest amount of water should enter any working component. We all know that seals aren't perfect, and once operated for a few hundred hours even, they will leak. What has Caterpillar done to ensure that the operator and electrical components are well-guarded against short-circuits?
