EDA makes Danish move
The new EDA secretariat is headed by Henriette Thuen (centre) and is based in the Danish city of Copenhagen
The European Demolition Association has officially announced a change to its secretariat. The previous secretariat operated out of Amsterdam, the Netherlands, while the new secretariat is located in Copenhagen. It will be headed up by Ms Henriette Thuen in the role of general manager. The Copenhagen secretariat is hosted by the Danish Construction Association (Dansk Byggeri), where Ms Thuen is in charge of the International Department. The decision to relocate the secretariat was taken by the board of directors earlier this year.
This change is understood to be part of the reinvigoration of the Associaition under its new president, Yves Canessa, who has defined three primary aims – the promotion and protection of the economic and political interests of the industry, the creation of a network between contractors, suppliers of equipment and associated industries, and finally the establishment of common European standards.
Ms Thuen is reported as saying: “Via our new website, www.eda-demolition.com, we work to profile and promote the EDA as the networking place for all interested in the demolition industry at a European level. Through our biannual conference, with the next taking place in Istanbul in November, we aim to give the members a platform for networking and exchange of knowledge in the demolition sector, as well as the opportunity to contribute to the achievement of common European standards.”
