Sandvik has introduced the second model in its new generation of medium class hydraulic breakers intended to replace its current E Series models in the shape of the BR2577, intended for carriers in the popular 23-28 tonne range. Weighing in at 1,700 kg (3,750 lb), the new breaker has a blow rate from 450 to 750 blows per minute and operates at 135-145 bar (1,950-2,100 psi).

Sandvik has introduced a new approach with the BR2577 (and the BR2155 launched at ConExpo earlier this year). In order to cater for demand for basic breakers from developing countries while still providing the sophistication required by western markets, the two new breakers, and further models due for launch next year, are available as a basic standard silenced unit that can be enhanced by additional features that can be retrofitted to the breaker according to the level of sophistication required or the particular application demands.

Options available for retrofit on the 2577 include a safety valve, idle blow protector, soft blow sensor, automatic lubrication systems, Ramdata log systems, Ramona monitoring system, heavy duty housing reinforcement, bronze tool bushing and the VIDAT system that ensures optimum running costs.

According to the company, further models will be introduced over the course of the next year to completely replace the E series breakers. Sandvik’s aim is to offer its customers a simplified medium class breaker line-up, with fewer models in a range that provides the same or greater level of capability because of the flexibility the optional features provide.
