Industry award for Cherry Demolition
The Associated Builders and Contractors of Greater Houston has given its 2008 Excellence in Construction award to Cherry Demolition for its superior work and faultless safety record during a six-month project during which Cherry dismantled sections of a BP Amoco chemical plant in Pasedena, Texas.
Known as ‘Project Pathway’, the work involved the removal of more than 2,000 tons of process equipment, piping, structural steel, instrumentation, insulation, electrical equipment and foundations. According to Mark Dinello, former project general manager for the project: “The successful outcome of our demolition project was made possible by Cherry’s conscientious teamwork, which produced a great product in a safe and timely fashion with a zero OSHA recordable.”
The awards programme recognised 39 projects from general contractors, speciality contractors and suppliers judged to be among the best in the industry based on criteria such as safety, involvement and endorsements from clients and design companies.
