European Demolition Association heads into eastern Europe

Written by Lindsay Gale - 05 Feb 2010

The European Demolition Association (EDA) spring conference will this year be held on the 27-29  May 2010 in the Polish city of Warsaw. The venue will be the Westin Hotel, which is located in the centre of the business district of central Warsaw. Warsaw Central Station and the Palace of Science and Culture are both about 500 metres from the hotel.

Details of the content of the conference programme are not yet available, but the event will take the usual EDA format, with a cocktail reception on the Thursday evening, a full day conference programme on the Friday and a half day programme on the Saturday.

However, one major change will see the Gala Dinner, traditionally held on the Saturday night, move to the Friday, with the usual informal Friday dinner taking its place. The rational for this change is simple, according to current EDA president Yves Canessa: ""We have observed that many of the manufacturers' representatives, our sponsors, leave on the Saturday afternoon and we really want to have them attend our Gala Dinner." He continued: "In these hard times, it is our way of expressing our gratitude to them for supporting us and making the EDA conferences possible".

The General Meeting that will be held during the event will see a change-over in EDA office-bearers, with current vice president Giuseppe Panseri stepping up to the post of president. His current position will be taken in turn by Pilar de la Cruz Romero, currently president of the EDA International Committee.
