Xylem expands Godwin plant

Written by Helen Wright - 24 Jan 2012

Xylem has broken ground on a 10000 ft2 (929 m2) extension to its Godwin pumps manufacturing facility in Bridgeport, New Jersey, US.

The company's Bridgeport facility makes Godwin automatic self-priming portable pumps used in the drainage pump rental market, services and sales for the global industrial, construction, mining, municipal, oil and gas segments. The company said it was expanding its manufacturing to prepare for expected growth in the dewatering segment.

Xylem was launched in 2011 as a spin-off of the water-related businesses of ITT Corporation and includes site dewatering and slurry pump brands Flygt and Godwin, as well as Gossett, Flojet, Bell, Goulds Water Technlogies, WTW and YSI. The demerged company began trading on the New York Stock Exchange on 1 November, 2011.

Michel Bakhos, head of Xylem's dewatering solutions business, said, "We continued to see excellent growth in 2011, expanding both our pump rental and sales business considerably. To keep up with demand in 2012 and beyond, we are adding shop space at the main manufacturing facility in Bridgeport."

The building extension is expected to be completed during 2012.
