A 1,000 tonne capacity crawler crane has been launched by XCMG.

The conventional type lattice boom crane is designed for easy assembly and dismantling. It has a tray type superlift, removable split slew ring and "20 other patented technologies", the manufacturer said.

The Chinese manufacturer said it developed the range-topping machine in response to demand from domestic customers and that it will compete with foreign competitors. Fellow Chinese manufacturers Sany and Zoomlion also offer 1,000 tonne capacity lattice boom crawler cranes.

Wang Min, board chairman of XCMG and Party secretary, said that the new crawler was a milestone in the company's quest of creating a "Globally competitive international enterprise that the Chinese people are proud of."

XCMG built its first crawler crane in 1995 and passed the 100 tonne capacity mark in 1998 with the 150 tonne capacity QUY150. A 300 tonner was launched in 2003, followed by a 450 tonner in 2006 and a 650 tonner in 2008. It offers 16 models between 35 and 1,000 tonnes capacity.
