Tiong Woon wins plant contract

Singapore-based heavy lift and transport specialist Tiong Woon has been contracted to lay pipelines and construct intake towers at the Tuaspring Desalination Plant under construction in the country.

The one-year contract was signed between Tiong Woon Oasis Marine & Engineering and Hydrochem, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hyflux, for an undisclosed sum.

Hydrochem is the engineering, procurement and construction contractor for the project. Tiong Woon will assist Hydrochem with the laying of marine intake and outfall pipeline works, construct and launch intake towers, laying of outfall pipeline, construct and launch outfall diffuser, revetment temporary works, and reinstatement and construction of collection tank outflow pipes. Work is scheduled for completion by end of December 2012.

Tuaspring Desalination Plant is the largest seawater desalination plant in Singapore with an output of 318,500m³ a day.
