The fact these two fools don't realise this idea has been done numerous times in the past shows how badly they researched this market, how little they know about the internet and how unlikley they are to succeed given their site opperates the same way as the other 7/8 sites that did this back in 2000.
This industry has enough downward pressure on it without price comparison sites popping up. Neither are a computer programmer, neither have an indepth understanding of the industry they opperate in - the internet and neither seem to know much about rental given the solution they have applied to the problem. They haven't thought about it, instead it's another site putting itself between the customer and the rental company which ultimately increases costs rather than lower them.
The site looks like it was designed and developed in 2000 as well. Goodluck guys, you'll last 1-2 years like the others did.
These guys look to have really found a solution here. One thing they have not touched on is the cost savings for both the Rental Company and the Consumer. By cutting out a Sales Rep, or two, per branch they are cutting out the unnecessary middle-man who has been there since 2000. Since then, there has been no need for a Sales Rep. RentalHawk.com looks like they are primed to revolutionize that gap or middle-man.
People didn't know how to use the internet as well as they do now. In 2000 people were still using dial-up. Now they have iPhones. RentalHawk.com could not have timed it better.
I really like the way the site was designed. It is very direct and to-the-point. I was happy to see there is not a bunch of crap flying across the screen. Instead I am able to find the equipment I need at the price I want. What a great value... and I don't have to waste any time shopping.
These guys will be around for a long time and probably be bought out by Google or Yahoo. Well done RentalHawk.com. I love it.
It makes no sense to do this. Only 1 company succeeds and that is the one with the lowest price. That then forces the other rental companies to do price wars. Price wars extend the ROI of the machinery making it less profitable and eventually the small companies go under or get bought up by the bigger ones. Once the bigger ones win they have less competition and they will jack prices up again. It will only provide minimal savings for a short period of time.
So basically, Good for the consumer.... Bad for the Rental Company, Manufactures, Suppliers which provide jobs to keep the economy going.
FINALLY AN ONLINE SOLUTION FOR RENTAL!!! This site allows the consumers to rate & review the specific rental branches, providing market research on who has what equipment and who does it better. Whether it is the smaller/independent or the large rental corporation, both are on a level playing field. This is finally a forum where the little guy can compete directly with the big guys.
I love this website. People can find me, rent my equipment, and show the public that my shop does it better. It's not necessarily about price... it's about service now!
This basically, Good for the Consumer and GREAT FOR THE RENTAL COMPANY, MANUFACTURERS, SUPPLIERS, ETC. They all pay the same for their equipment. This site allows all parties to get connected.
The negative comments posted here about this company are naive. This, among other businesses designed to make life easier for customers, is coming to this industry whether we like it or not. Rather than complain that the technology will cause price wars, create an intermediary, make the industry more competitive, etc., the smart and innovative companies will find a way to embrace the technology. These customers already have this technology available to them with almost every other purchase that they're involved in...Orbitz, Expedia, Edmunds, Ebay, to name a few. So as an industry, let's just keep them in the dark on equipment rental?
Whether it's RentalHawk or someone else, it's coming. Embrace it or go the way of the dinosaur.
