Ramirent Sweden lands €7.9 million mining contract

Written by Sarah Ann Campbell - 09 Jan 2012

Ramirent Sweden has been chosen by Boliden to supply rental equipment for the expansion of its Garpenberg mine. The SEK70 million (€7.9 million) contract will see Ramirent's Swedish operation supply a wide range of equipment to Boliden over a three-year term.

Stockholm-based mining and smelting company Boliden is to expand production of zinc ore from the Garpenberg mine from 1.4 to 2.5 million tonnes per year.

To help achieve this, Ramirent has been brought in to supply heavy equipment, lifts and accessories to all subcontractors operating at the site, as well as office, changing room, washroom and canteen modules for site personnel.

The pan-European rental company will also open an outlet at the Garpenberg site, providing services, rental equipment and a range of spare parts.

Ramirent has worked with Boliden in the past, supplying its Aitik mine expansion project two years ago. Ramirent runs the second largest rental business in Sweden, with annual net sales of €145 million in 2010 and 84 outlets throughout the country.
