Aggreko has expanded its Chinese operation with the opening of a new service centre in the southern city of Foshan. The depot will replace its previous, smaller facility in the neighbouring city of Guangzhou.

The power rental company said the new location would accommodate the “substantial growth” the business had seen in the Guangdong province and provide capacity for future growth in the region.

“Aggreko has chosen Foshan to be the hub of our business for southern China due to its strong and diverse industrial base and its convenient access to the other major industrial centres of the Pearl River Delta,” said Kelvin Lam, general manager, Aggreko China.

“As we rapidly outgrew our facilities at Guangzhou it was vital that we secured a strategic location that offered us the room to keep growing our business to continue serving our expanding customer base.”

The Foshan location is within the Gangbei Industrial Zone in the Shunde District. It comprises an area of 5300 m2 and will incorporate the latest Aggreko workshop layouts and warehousing processes as well as office space.

“The expansion of our operations in Guangdong province represents an exciting step in the development of Aggreko’s business in mainland China,” said Debajit Das, managing director, Aggreko Asia. “By increasing our local presence we are continuing to invest in our ability to provide superior service to our customers.”

Aggreko opened its first facility in China around 2006 and has other service centres in Beijing, Dalian and Shanghai.
