Manitowoc delivers first Grove crane to Baltic

Manitowoc’s Baltic dealer for Grove cranes, Konekesko, held a launch event to celebrate the arrival of the GMK6300L to Latvia

Manitowoc has delivered the first Grove GMK6300L crane to a Baltic state. Latvian rental company Arsava put the 300 tonne capacity crane straight to work around the country.

It is the largest all terrain crane in the region and has already completed several projects since being delivered by Konekesko, Manitowoc's Baltic dealer for Grove cranes.

A launch event was held at Konekesko in Riga where 200 guests saw at first-hand demonstrations of the crane's capabilities.

The GMK6300L has been working virtually non-stop since delivery, Manitowoc said. Its first job was on a wind farm in Venspils in northern Latvia. The crane was used to move a large drilling machine for foundation piles for wind towers. It was then moved to Tallinn in Estonia to perform general lifting at a power station, before returning to Latvia to work on another power station.

The six-axle Grove GMK6300L has a seven section boom designed for strong lifts without needing to rig the jib.

Arsava is offering the crane for projects throughout the Baltic States and Scandinavia and expects to have a busy calendar of projects for 2012. The company is based in Riga and its fleet includes ATs, a self erecting crane, forklift trucks and a helicopter designed for lifting.
