Star rise for Concorde

UK powered access rental company Star Platforms provided a Skyjack 6826RT diesel scissor lift to support maintenance of a retired Concorde aircraft.

The project at Brooklands Museum, Surrey, was an exterior drywash of the iconic Concorde G-BBDG. After a brief discussion with the hire desk team, a Skyjack 6826RT scissor lift was selected. With a working height of 9.75m and a lifting capacity of 567kg; this compact scissor is ideal for outdoor maintenance tasks. In this case, it could be positioned alongside the aircraft with precision and accuracy to complete the job to a high standard, safe in the knowledge no harm would come to the Concorde whilst they carried out their work.

General manager of the company carrying out the cleaning, Wayne, commented, “Having worked previously on projects for Brooklands Museum, including performing an exterior drywash last year on Concorde, it was a pleasure to help when they contacted us for assistance once again. The first thing we always arrange is access equipment, so, I dropped Jack at Star Platforms an e-mail and he seamlessly arranged the scissor lift to get delivered to site the very next day.”

Jack Miller, business development manager, Star Platforms, added, “We have been working with Wayne and the team for many months now so when he asked for our help to supply him with access equipment for their work on Concorde, we were thrilled to once again support his requirements and be a part of the project by providing quality access equipment.”
