Towerlight launches mobile dust suppression machine

23 April 2008

Italian lighting tower manufacturer TowerLight has developed a mobile dust suppression machine called the Gladiator aimed at demolition and building operations.

Two models are available, a 3 kW model with a 20-30 m range and a 20 kW version (pictured) with a range of up to 60 m. Towerlight director Andrea Fontanella told IRN that the Gladiator would waste less water than conventional water hoses, keep workers a safe distance from demolition activities, and create less mud. “It’s very similar to artificial snow producers”, he told IRN, “We went to see some of these specialist to learn the technology.”

The trailer mounted unit can be towed and will rotate automatically up to 360 degrees. Further versions are being developed – including one with a self-contained water tank – and Mr Fontanella said 10 models had already been sold, with customers including rental company ArcGen in Parma and another rental firm Arduene in Piacenza.

The 20 kW model weighs 500 kg and will cost around €28000 and the smaller one weighs 300 kg and priced at €21000.
