Volvo’s Weissburg to head home

Martin Weissburg is being replaced next year as president of Volvo Construction Equipment by Melker Jernberg, with Weissburg opting to move back to the US for family reasons.

From January 1, 2018, Jernberg will take the role of president and will be a member of the Volvo Group executive board.

Born in 1968, he is currently president and CEO of the Swedish-based powder metallurgy company Höganäs. Before that, he held the position of executive vice president and head of the EMEA (Europe, Middle East & Africa) business area at Swedish-based steel manufacturer SSAB.

Melker Jernberg will take up his new position on January 1, 2018.

During the first quarter of next year, Weissburg will take up a position as senior advisor to Volvo’s president and CEO Martin Lundstedt, and will be based in Greensboro, North Carolina, US.

Lundstedt said, “Martin Weissburg has, through his strong leadership, been key to the considerable improvement in the performance of Volvo Construction Equipment, and he will continue to have senior positions within the Volvo Group.”
