Mobile crushing and screening equipment manufacturer Astec Industries has appointed Barry Ruffalo as its new president and CEO.

Bill Gehl, chairman of Astec Industries, said: “After a comprehensive search that included a number of highly qualified candidates, we are excited to hire Mr Ruffalo.

“Barry brings a wealth of experience to Astec. He is a leader that has driven change, understands infrastructure and will add tremendous value.”

Barry will take over the position from Astec’s COO Richard Dorris, who took on the job of Interim CEO in January following the resignation of Benjamin Brock, the son of the company’s late founder Dr J Don Brock.

Speaking of his appointment, Barry Ruffalo said: “I look forward to moving forward with measures to make Astec more profitable and agile while building on the strength of its world-class products.”

He was also elected to the company’s board of directors and will stand for re-election at its 2020 annual meeting.

Prior to his appointment, Barry held executive vice president and group president roles at Valmont Industries, where he had worked since 2015.
