Case Construction Equipment is showing the DL450 compact dozer loader – also known as Project Minotaur – which it said was a first-of-its-kind fully-integrated design that matched the best operating characteristics of a compact track loader (CTL) with a crawler dozer, but it added that a launch/production date for the machine had not been confirmed.

Case said that ConExpo 2017 represented a new and advanced phase in product development and that it was speaking to its customers about how the new machine could be refined.

Scott Harris, vice president – North America, said, “In 1957, we changed the industry with the introduction of the first-ever fully integrated backhoe loader.

“The DL450 compact dozer loader represents that same forward-thinking and practical innovation, but in an exciting new platform that provides a real benefit to contractors – from landscapers looking to step up their grading and earthmoving game, to residential and commercial contractors looking for versatility and dual-function in a single footprint.”

The DL450 is said to provide the power and performance of a small dozer in a platform that also served as a loader, and to run all the attachments that a contractor currently owned for skid steers and compact track loaders.

The core feature of the DL450 is a C-Frame dozer interface that pins directly into the chassis of the machine. Case said this provided the stability and smooth operating plane of a CTL, with all operating power and stresses channeled through the machine’s chassis and not its loader arms.

The C-Frame can be unpinned from the chassis and disconnected like any other attachment, allowing the machine to perform like a standard CTL.

Mini excavators

Case, which is celebrating its 175th anniversary, has also introduced its new C Series mini excavator line to the US market at ConExpo, with models ranging from 1.5 to 5.5 tonnes.

There are six new mini excavators – the CX17C, CX26C, CX33C, CX37C, CX57C and CX60C. It said the CX57C and CX60C provided greater power and performance than any previous Case mini excavators, and offered best-in-class horsepower.

The CX57C and CX60C models at the top of the new range claim a spacious cab with ample legroom, together with the ergonomic seating and control layout, a fully adjustable, heated seat, multiple storage compartments and sunshades.

Among other launches from Case at Las Vegas, is the new DV45CC combination vibratory roller.

Case said the new vibratory roller compacted with the front drum and delivered a smooth finish with the rear pneumatic tyres.

It said an offset drum with tapered edge and high curb clearance offered precision compaction capabilities in tight spaces, and adjustable scrapers, an automatic vibration control system and a pressurised water system ensured a smooth, clean finish in a variety of asphalt applications.

Case's booth is at N11825
