Niemisen sora of finland has taken delivery of a Metso Minerals Lokotrack LT105 track-mounted crushing plant. The company, which operates four gravel plants producing almost a million tonnes of aggregate a year, derives more than half of its sales supplying special materials to golf courses.

Company owner Timo Nieminen explained, “Ash is needed for fairways, crushed fines for backfill, and several types of specially screened materials for greens and bunkers. One recent golf course project, for example, required 150000 tonnes of various special materials. In order to serve their needs, we have quite a lot of equipment that general aggregates producers will not have heard of before.”

The more conventional crushing and screening equipment used by the company consists of the Lokotrack LT105 crushing plant and a variety of stationary equipment. “The track-mounted plant supplied has considerably increased our capacity,”said Mr Nieminen.

“In the past, when we moved a stationary plant, it was a two-week job. Now we don't move the stationary plants at all but transport the LT105 from site to site or within a site, according to our needs,”he said.
