Demolition Combination
01 May 2008
Demolition contractor archinal in wetter has used two Atlas Copco CombiCutters, a 1,8 tonne CC 1501 U and a 2,7 tonne CC 2100 U to demolish a four-storey reinforced concrete industrial building in Bad Laasphe, Germany. The CC 1501 U was mounted on a high reach Liebherr 934 excavator and was used to demolish the upper stories, while the heavier tool was mounted on an O&K RH 6.5, and tackled the lower levels.
Both cutters were equipped with universal jaws, which are well-suited to demolishing reinforced concrete. The front area of the jaws is furnished with crushing teeth which crushers the concrete, while the inner/rear portion is a cutter jaw that is able to slice through all common grades of structural steel. This allows them to demolish reinforced concrete elements in a single cycle.
Once the building was demolished, a 2,7 tonne Atlas Copco BP 2300 R pulveriser was used to process and reduce the material. The tool boasts a 100 tonne crushing force, which effectively ‘crumbled’ the concrete away from the rebar. This allowed the steel to be sold as scrap, while the concrete was put through a mobile crusher and use as backfill on the site.
