High time

01 May 2008

It is difficult, and unfair, to single out individual companies or products as being highlights of APEX this year. Difficult because there are dozens and dozens of new machines being introduced, and unfair because the judgment about what is interesting (or not) is very much in the eye of the beholder. If you have an application or a customer for a machine, then it's interesting, end of story.

The stands at a sold-out APEX this year will contain as many hidden gems as there are more obvious &headline' machines. To help you find them, AI has compiled the list below: it is as comprehensive as we could make it – not every company has something new on their stand, but where there is, we hope to have identified it.

Regarding the &headline' products, we point you in the direction of several stands, including Bronto Skylift (new 90 m and details of the planned +100 m), Haulotte (new 41 m articulating boom, plus others), Worldlift Industries (first major exhibition for the merged E Falck Schmidt and Denka Lift business); OP Pagliero (details of new 85 m platforms), JLG (Liftlux narrow electrics), Genie (the new Z51 articulated boom for Europe), ASClimber (modular hoist/mast climber system), Bison Palfinger (new 61 m truck mount), Iteco (re-engineered scissor ranges), MEC Europe (launch of MEC scissors in Europe), and Niftylift (new 15 m trailer). But as we said, look beyond the headlines.

There are also some things that we don't have details of yet, but will be talked about at APEX, such as Aichi's planned fuller line of equipment, and new scissors (and possibly considerably more) from Skyjack.

There will be plenty to see, and a lot to listen to as well, with a free conference programme on the first two days of the show (see page 36 for details). Enjoy the exhibition.
