In the US, Washington DC’s Ronald Reagan airport is set for a major renovation project this summer.

The US$1 billion dollar multi-year Project Journey will see two new checkpoints built, as well as a new passenger concourse. The work will also include future improvements to roadway and parking configurations.

The security checkpoints are expected to be completed by 2020, with the concourse opening in 2021.

Originally designed to handle 15 million passengers a year, the airport is currently serving over 23 million.
