The construction trade show Bauma Conexpo India, due to be held from 3-6 November 2020 in Gurugram/New Delhi has been postponed to February 23-26, 2021, due to the impact of Covid-19.

In a press release, the show’s organisers Messe München commented that, considering the escalating pandemic as well as domestic and international travel restrictions imposed by the Government of India, rescheduling the trade fair is a strategic decision.

Mr. Bhupinder Singh, CEO, bC Expo India Pvt. Ltd., said, “We have arrived at the decision to postpone bauma Conexpo India after thorough market assessment and consultation with our key stakeholders. The postponement is in the best interest of the exhibitors and visitors.”

India has, at the time of writing, over 1.48 million confirmed cases of Covid-19 with more than 33,400 deaths from the disease. The total number of cases has seen a large increase in July and there are fears that this trend will continue.

The construction industry in India is predicted to contract by 7.5% in 2020 due to the effects of the Covid-19 crisis coupled with weakness carried over from 2019.

The decision to postpone the show was supported by Mr. Arvind K. Garg from Larsen & Toubro and Chairman, bauma Conexpo India Business. He said, “We are in an unprecedented situation that has affected our industry significantly. This decision to reschedule bauma Conexpo India, is in accordance with the feedback we received from both our important stakeholders—exhibitors and customers.
