GIS expands chain hoist range

Electric chain hoist manufacturer GIS has expanded its GP series with the GP1000.
The third model in its new generation for industrial applications lifts 1.6 tonnes on one fall of chain. Capacity on two falls of chain is 2.5 tonnes.
GIS introduced the GP series at the start of 2017 with the GP250/500 models. The series replaces the previous GCH with increased performance characteristics, the Swiss manufacturer said. This includes 60 per cent more lifting capacity on one chain fall and a longer life, by up to four times, depending on the application, GIS said.
Erich Widmer, GIS sales and marketing manager, said, “With GP1000, customers benefit from a smaller, lighter and less expensive hoist model due to the increased capacity of up to 2.5 tonnes. Up to now the next bigger hoist, GCH1600, was needed for this capacity.”
GP1000 is available for single- or three-phase electrical power and there are one- and two-speed models with different lifting speeds. It is rated to IP65 for protection against the ingress of moisture and dust and a three-year warranty is included as standard. Accessories and options include radio remote control, frequency inverter drive, operating data counter, security load hook and special controls.
The housing and cover are aluminium to help resist arduous operating conditions. Its case-hardened and manganese-phosphated steel lifting chain has a minimum safety factor of 8:1 (according to ISO M5/FEM 2m) and is rated for 15 % more lifting capacity for the same nominal diameter. Disassembly and assembly for maintenance can be done quickly and without special tools, reducing service costs, GIS said.
Special versions available include: corrosion-resistant; explosion-proof (ATEX); frequency inverter driven; handy chain and telescopic model; synchronised hoist; and low headroom. Synchronised hoists allow handling of long and bulky loads.
