A dozen Unic cranes delivered to Danish military

Danish Ministry of Defence Acquisition and logistics Organisation FMI has taken delivery of 12 new Unic spider cranes.
The deal was done by Lissner, Unic Cranes Europe distributor for Denmark. They are Unic model URW-1006+ mini crawler cranes on rubber tracks and will mainly be used to lift replacement engines into Leopard tanks. Other uses will include lifting helicopter gear systems, rotor blades, blade storage containers and heavy components.
Commenting on the deal Graeme Riley, Unic Cranes Europe chief executive, said, “It is a real accomplishment for us as the master European distributor for Unic cranes to have our machines successfully make the grade with the Danish Ministry of Defence. We have been working with Lissner and DALO on this opportunity for over three years. Lissner and Unic Cranes Europe will be here to provide any further support and training along the way to ensure that our cranes prove to be an effective tool in aiding the Danish military with their work.
“Unic mini cranes have already proven popular for military applications, including essential lifting work for RAF Odiham [in the UK] and Camp Bastion in Afghanistan. A range of Unic mini cranes were sold to the [UK] Ministry of Defence in 2012 to be used for lifting heavy aircraft parts when the Chinook engineering team were performing essential maintenance on their fleet of helicopters.”
Key features of the Unic mini cranes are portability and quick set up, versatility and a 10 tonne lifting capacity. Pick and carry capacity is 1.5 tonnes. Unic Cranes Europe also supplied a five-day technical training course on the new cranes for the military personnel involved.
