Active and Borger join forces

Mobile crane rental company Borger Cranes has taken a stake in tower crane rental specialist Active Crane Hire in Australia.

Joining forces will see a complete range of lifting, handling and specialized transport services available from one source. The deal took effect on 1 September.

Commenting on the move Hermann Buchberger, Active Crane Hire managing director, said, “This alliance and partnership will tick all the boxes. Borger with their strong experience and legacy in the mobile crane industry and ACH with their expertise in the tower crane and self erecting crane rental market complement each other perfectly. Both companies are family owned, hands-on and share similar values. These similarities will help to maintain each other’s Identity. With a strong focus on quality, safety and second to none customer support and backup, it is a win for all parties involved.”

Active Crane Hire said it will now be able to strengthen its market representation and enjoy business opportunities in new markets, and that Borger will now offer a new level of materials handling solutions to large and complex infrastructure projects. According to Active Crane Hire, the synergy between also allows resource sharing and team expertise. More than 275 people make up the team.

More than 160 self erecting and top slewing tower cranes make up the Active Crane Hire fleet. Many of them are Potains, including the new MCH125 electro-hydraulic luffer first shown in 2016. Borger has more than 70 mobile cranes up to 500 tonnes capacity, crawler cranes up to 600 tonnes and 25 Franna pick and carry cranes. Its transport division offers trailers with up to ten axle lines.
