Germany-based CT Kranservice has taken delivery of a new Demag AC 220-5 wheeled mobile telescopic crane, largely to erect and dismantle its tower cranes.

CT Kranservice has a fleet of almost 300 construction cranes and, according to two of the company’s crane operators, the Demag’s easy handling and accessible technology are impressive.

The AC 220-5 has a 78 metre main boom, a lift capacity of 220 tonnes and its compact design is said to allow easier operation on sites with limited space.

The all terrain machine also features the IC-1 Plus control system, which calculates the crane’s lifting capacity for every position of the boom in real time, subject to the slewing angle. Manufacturer Terex said the feature allows the crane to handle lifts that would otherwise only be possible with larger cranes.
