Aggreko has appointed a new Managing Director for its Power Solutions business, with Stephen Beynon taking over from Nicolas Fournier.

Mr Fournier, a former executive at Lafarge, had been running the business since joining Aggreko in November 2015. Aggreko said on Friday that he has left “with immediate effect, by mutual agreement.”

Mr Beynon, who takes up his new post today, has spent more than 20 years running large service businesses, including senior roles at Cable & Wireless, Optus, Virgin Media and Eircom.

From 2012 to 2016 he ran the business and then the residential division of British Gas. Most recently he has been an independent advisor to the energy sector.

Aggreko’s Power Solutions business – which implements large-scale power projects – represents around 60% of total company revenues.

In 2016 the division’s revenues were 6% down on the previous year, faced by challenging conditions in Latin America and parts of Asia.

Chris Weston, Aggreko’s Chief Executive, said; “I am very pleased to welcome Stephen to Aggreko. His considerable experience in running large service based businesses and his deep knowledge of the energy sector will prove great assets as Aggreko pursues its programme to return the business to growth.””
