Taking place over five days, from 15-19 August at the Am Rothenbaum tennis stadium, HKL’s machines were utilised over a few days, to ensure the stadium was ready for the tournament, which yielded more than 70,000 spectators.

The project owner, AS Erdbewegung, chose the Komatsu WA200 wheeled loader, Kramer 5095 wheeled loader and Yanmar Vi050 mini excavator, on rent from HKL, to distribute massive amounts of special beach sand on the centre court and two side courts.

Stefan Hormann, customer advisor, HKL said, “The challenge in this project was the large sand masses that should be moved and the narrow entrance to the stadium. The machines had to have compact dimensions and be very powerful. We advised Mr. Sonnenberg on the choice of machine.”

Meanwhile, Andreas Sonnenberg, AS Erdbewegung, added, “The special thing about the co-operation with HKL is the personal partnership relationship. We have the same contact person since the beginning and can always count on the advice, punctual delivery and quality of the machines. That’s really great.”
