International Rental News April-May 2019

As the rental sector is increasingly feeling the effects of digital technology, we have given this issue a digital focus.

In the first of a two-piece series, Clotilde Jouette of Avesco Rent and Omar Achment, founder of Overstory.eco, speak about Industry 4.0 and prompt us to ask what we want the rental industry of the future to look like. Meanwhile, Russell Down of Speedy Hire calls for rental companies to adapt to changing customer expectations by providing real-time service.

Also, in an interview with Craig Kesby, he tells IRN how the digital shift is encouraging stronger partnerships between different companies, as well as between companies and their customers.

We also speak with Gregg Leslie and Vishnuprasad Swaminathan of Xylem in an exclusive interview about the company’s new rental brand, which reflects how Xylem is adapting to the changing face of rental. And in another interview, Alessandro Rossi, Managing Director of Generac Mobile Italy, talks about how the company’s innovations are rolling out across the globe.

The issue also includes a last-minute round-up of product launches to keep an eye out for at Bauma, as well as features on mini excavators and engines.

Soon after Bauma, the ERA Convention will be held in Madrid, Spain, on 15 and 16 May. Our guide looks at the theme of this year’s event, ‘Rental: a sharing economy’, and the shortlists for this year’s European Rental Awards, which will be presented on the evening of 15 May at the same venue.
