06 November 2018

Speaking at the International Rental Conference (IRC) in Shanghai on 26 November Pierre Boels, CEO of Boels Rental, will outline the challenges he has faced in building Boels Rental into one the largest rental operations in Europe.

Keynote speaker Boels, who is also President of the European Rental Association (ERA), will describe Boels’ evolution “from a small mom and pop rental store to an international company of over 400 branches in more than 10 European countries.”

He will consider some of the key decisions facing rental companies, such as how a generalist company can also become a specialist, and the consequences of operating in multiple countries, with challenges of language, culture and construction methods.

Boels will also paint a picture of future opportunities; “The advantages of the megatrend of the sharing economy, and the governmental pressure for sustainability, are both very positive developments for the rental sector.” He will consider how rental companies can exploit technology developments such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and Big Data.

As president of the ERA Boels believes that rental associations can play a big part in professionalizing the rental business; “If there is no Asian rental association, it might be a good idea to consider it.”

The IRC conference is in Shanghai on Monday, 26 November, the day before the Bauma China exhibition. For more details visit www.khl-irc.com
