TomTom Telematics has added a new Asset Tracking feature to its Webfleet fleet management solution.

Available across Europe, the new feature enables users to monitor their powered assets, including trailers and generators.

Maintenance notifications can be set up with the new Asset Tracking feature

Their location can be viewed on a map, and alerts can be set up to tell an owner or manager when an asset is being used or when it leaves a designated area, helping to reduce the risk of theft and the likelihood of improper use.

Paul Verheijen, Vice President of Product Management at TomTom Telematics, said, “Our focus is always on providing insight and making the working process simpler, safer and more efficient.”

Going beyond asset location, Verheijen said that the new Asset Tracking feature allows users to get instant reports 24/7, which list various parameters about how the asset is being used.

Also, notifications can be set up to remind users when maintenance is required. The timing of these reminders can be based on the odometer, operating time or time since the asset was last maintained.

Verheijen said, “Essentially, it provides a host of functionalities that support the user to get the most value and productivity out of each specific asset.”

TomTom Telematics is to be renamed Webfleet Solutions on 1 October 2019.
