New Kubota mini excavator

06 January 2009

Kubota has launched the 1.65 t U17-3 zero tail swing mini excavator, replacing the U15-3 model. The new product falls between the 990 kg U10-3 and the 2.1 t U20-3 models in the U series of zero tail swing machines.

Powered by the same Kubota engine used in the 1.5 t KX41-3 compact excavator, the U17 generates a maximum of 15.2 kN of digging force and has a maximum reach of 3.900 m. Its maximum digging depth is 2.310 m.

The U17-3's tracks expand to 1240 mm from 990 mm, and dozer blade extensions on both sides are standard. New short-pitched rubber tracks reduce vibration during travel for improved operator comfort, said the company.

Kubota's Intelligent Control System displays operating condition information, the hour meter reading, warning indicators for engine rpm, and fuel, temperature and oil levels. It also generates alerts for routine maintenance and includes a key-based anti-theft system as standard.

A fully opening, double-sided bonnet in the cover provides access to the engine, air cleaner and water separator, and access to the hydraulic control valve is from inside the cabin. Also simplifying maintenance are dozer and boom cylinders hoses of a two-piece design.

The size and weight of the new machine allow legal road towing by a standard 4x4 or other suitable tow vehicle, said Kubota.

The U17-3 is available globally and covered by Kubota's standard 2-year warranty. In the UK, it falls under a full, 3-year warranty Kubota (UK) Ltd recently announced for all new machines.

Richard Harrison, sales and marketing manager, Kubota (UK) Ltd - Construction Equipment, said, "Our decision to extend the standard warranty to three years (or 3000 hours) is another industry first for Kubota and confirms our confidence in the quality, reliability, durability and superiority of our machines."
