Rental chiefs get PAL training
29 March 2011
Kevin Appleton, chief executive of the UK-based Lavendon Group, and Carlos Fernández Araoz, chief operating officer of GAM, one of the largest equipment rental companies in Spain, have earned their IPAF PAL (Powered Access Licence) Card.
Mr Appleton and Mr Araoz were trained at Nationwide Platforms, which is owned by Lavendon, in the machine categories 3a (mobile vertical, scissor lift) and 3b (mobile boom, self-propelled boom). The full-day training course includes as standard a theory session followed by a written test to gauge knowledge, and a practical session ending with a practical assessment of operating skill and ability.
Mr Araoz said, "I found the training very useful, especially the practical, hands-on session strongly recommend the PAL Card training to those who regularly use and operate platforms."
IPAF's PAL Card operator training programme is certified by TÜV as conforming to ISO 18878. More than 80000 PAL Cards are issued each year through a network of over 400 IPAF-approved training centres worldwide. The PAL Card is proof of training and shows that the holder has been trained to operate powered access equipment safely and effectively.
