A-Plant boosts power generation fleet

UK-based Ashtead Group company A-Plant has placed an order with French supplier SDMO for 320 diesel generators ranging from 10 kVA to 300 kVA models.

A-Plant said the order, worth around £3.3 million (€4.6 million), is one of the largest it has placed with the company and also the first time it has purchased gensets above 60 kVA.

“This year we have purchased a much larger spread of generators from SDMO than ever before right up to 300 kVA, which reflects our confidence in their quality, reliability, innovation and environmental benefits,” said marketing director Asif Latief.

“All of the models we have purchased are compliant with two key parts of EU legislation, Tier 3A emissions and DEFRA oil pollution regulations, so they will enable our customers to meet their own environmental and sustainability objectives.”

The order includes SDMO’s recently launched Diesel 10000 E Silence Generator, a super compact 10kVA generator on wheels, which supplies portable power for use on construction sites, at events and for sectors such as the rail industry.

A-Plant was the first UK rental company to take the Diesel 10000 E into its fleet and took delivery of the first models to be produced at SDMO’s manufacturing plant in Brest.

Powered by a Kohler air-cooled industrial engine, the Diesel 10000 E has a soundproof enclosure which ensures ultra-low noise during operation.

It has acoustic pressure levels of 81 dB(A) at 1 m and 69 dB(A) at 7 m and is also fully bunded, ensuring that any fuel or oil spills are completely retained within the canopy, preventing environmental pollution.
