Atlas Copco unveils new drill rigs and crushers

Atlas Copco introduced new surface drill rigs together with a new Powercrusher line of mobile crushers and screeners - featuring eleven different models of rock crushers and six screener models - at the ConExpo show in Las Vegas.
The equipment manufacturer launched the FlexiROC T20 R compact radio-controlled, all-wheel drive surface drilling rig at the exhibition, designed for small construction jobs, trench drilling and rock reinforcement applications.
Powered by a 110-hp (82 kW) Tier III Cummins engine, the T20 delivers enough power for use in numerous anchoring and bolting applications and for specialised drilling applications.
FlexiROC T20 R options include a hydraulic rollover boom to increase coverage for bolting and specialized construction applications, and a hydraulic winch for securing the unit while tramming in extreme terrain.
The machine is also matched to the Atlas Copco COP 1140, a new generation of hydraulic rock drill which the company claims requires less fuel and has an extended steel life while providing a greater penetration rate.
In addition to the T20, Atlas Copco also unveiled its new SmartROC T40 surface drill rig for construction and aggregate production. The company claims this rig, which took more than five years to design and develop, is the most fuel efficient in its whole range.
The company said field tests had demonstrated -50% fuel consumption savings, depending on rock conditions, while hydraulic oil on the rig has been reduced by -65%.
The rig control system of the SmartROC T40 gives a wide hole range of 76 mm to 127 mm and the machine is said to deliver on average +10% higher impact energy efficiency than other rig types on the market.
And the equipment manufacturer also showcased its new Powercrusher range of track-mounted mobile crushers and screeners, created as a result of its 2010 acquisition of Hartl Powercrushers. The integration of the new business allowed Atlas Copco to add four new Powercrusher jaw crusher models, six impact crusher models and a cone crusher to its surface drilling equipment range.
The product range covers a crushing capacity from 242 tonnes to 606 tonnes per hour and includes screeners with a capacity of 242 tonnes to 485 tonnes per hour.
The four jaw crusher models feature Atlas Copco's Quattro movement system, which creates a figure-eight motion in the moving jaw that increases the feeding capacity and also produces a post-crush at the crusher outlet.
The six impact models, meanwhile, use optimised geometry in the crusher box with hydraulically adjustable swing beams. Atlas Copco claims this results in a minimal percentage of oversized material, and high reduction ratios and throughputs.
The Atlas Copco PC 1000 cone crusher features cones that are compact units designed to accept an "all-in" infeed. This method increases the quality of the end material shape, decreases wear and can eliminate the need for pre-screening, according to the company.
