BM Location expands rental offering

23 April 2008

Bergerat Monnoyeur Location (BM Loc), the French Cat Rental Store business operated by Caterpillar dealer Bergerat Monnoyeur, is to expand its product offering to general contractors and builders under a new ‘Pack Batiment’ programme.

The rental business is currently more focused on earthmoving and road building equipment, with 60% of its fleet in value terms comprising Caterpillar machines, but the plan is to expand its ‘allied product’ offering of equipment including smaller tools, generators, aerial platforms and small rough terrain forklifts.

The programme will be introduced at 25 BM Loc stores in France this year with more to follow depending on the progress.

Thierry Robert, managing director of BM Loc, told IRN that the fleet sizes at these trial stores will be increased by 30%, “So it will have a real impact...Rental is a local business: we are sure we can reach building construction customers close to our sites.”

As part of the planned investment, BM Loc will double its aerial platform fleet by adding around 150 units this year, mainly JLG and Genie machines.

The new programme comes at a time when BM Loc is growing rapidly. Earlier this year it acquired two medium sized rental businesses – including the Relmat company previously owned by Komatsu – and its network has grown from 70 locations at the start of 2007 to 105 now.

It has rental operations in Belgium, where it is Cat dealer, and also now in Poland, where it recently opened its first rental store, in Warsaw.
