The US$ 125 million second phase of the Star City complex in Yangon, Myanmar will be built by a consortium of Bouygues subsidiary Dragages Singapore and SPA Project Management.

Property group Thanlyin Estate Development has awarded the US$ 125 million contract for a new phase of the Star City residential complex in Yangon, Myanmar to a consortium comprising Bouygues subsidiary Dragages Singapore and SPA Project Management.

The project comprises design and construction of six residential buildings comprising a total of 956 apartments. Four of the buildings will be 82 m/25 storeys high with the other two 91 m/28 storeys. The contract also includes construction of a two-storey car park along with a local community building and the development of green spaces, a swimming-pool and a leisure activity area.

Work is already underway on the scheme, which is expected to take 35 months to complete and employ some 2,100 people.

Dragages Singapore and SPA Project Management have previously completed the first phase of the Star City project for Thanlyin Estate Development, which comprised five residential buildings. Bouygues said this project, “Saw the introduction in Myanmar of new techniques and equipment, such as the use of prefabricated elements and steel formwork systems.”

Ludwig Reichhold, executive vice president for Southern Asia at Bouygues Bâtiment International, said, “Following on from an initial contract awarded in 2013, this latest success will reinforce our long-term commitment to Myanmar, which includes an initiative to provide training for local employees.”
