Cat grapples

25 March 2008

Caterpillar Work Tools has launched an improved series of orange peel grapples for hydraulic excavators in the shape of the GSH B-series units. According to the company, these new grapples provide increased strength and reliability, along with a better shape for penetration and filling of bulk materials. There is a range of shells with four or five tines in open, semi-closed, closed and a new narrow design. They feature fully protected hydraulic cylinders.

These new grapples can be used in a wide variety of applications such as handling shredded scrap, long structural beams or car bodies, or for handling waste at recycling and transfer stations. Improved rotation is their single most important feature – they are now equipped with a proven hydraulic motor and a separate hydraulic swivel joint and swing gear.
