08 May 2008

There is still time to enter this year's ESTA Awards of Excellence 2008, the biggest crane and heavy haulage party in Europe.

The awards event will be at the Okura Hotel in Amsterdam on 3 June. The awards are open to all firms that are members of ESTA-affiliated associations and are an excellent opportunity to network with colleagues from across Europe.

Last year's party took place in Munich, Germany in April (pictured) and was voted a great success. Attended by almost 500 guests, the award finalists came from a wide range of countries and types of company. They included:

• Ainscough and R Collett from the UK

• Mammoet, Van de Wetering, Wagenborg Nedlift and H van Oorschot Kranen from Holland

• Mediaco and TLW Transports Leclerc from France

• BMS from Denmark.

The innovation award was won by Manitowoc for its Grove GTK1100, a new concept in telescopic tower cranes, while the development award went to the 1,200 tonne capacity Liebherr LTM 11200-9.1 mobile crane with 100 m telescopic boom.

The jury gave the final award of the night, Personality of the Year, to Otto Rettenmaier of the TII Transporter Industry International Group, the owner of Scheuerle, Nicolas and Kamag.

The awards and party are supported by International Cranes and Specialized Transport magazine. Sponsors who have signed up this year so far include Kobelco, Liebherr, Manitowoc, Tadano and Terex.

ESTA (the European Association of Heavy Haulage, Transport and Mobile Cranes) is the pan-European association for national trade associations representing mobile crane rental, heavy haulage and abnormal load transport companies.

ESTA's primary objective is European harmonisation of rules and regulations and its goal is to be the number one European representative of heavy haulage, abnormal load and mobile crane rental companies.

ESTA provides a Europe-wide network for national associations, companies and manufacturers. It also strives to continuously improve the image of the sector, and lobbies for the best possible investment climate for business.

This y ear's awards dinner coincides with the first International Rental Exhibition, from 3 to 5 June at the Amsterdam RAI Centre, the Netherlands.
