Fines reduced for Impregilo

05 February 2010

As part of an investigation into waste disposal contracts a Naples court has filed a new order against Impregilo and its subsidiaries Fibe and Fisia Italimpianti, reducing the amount seized from the companies by approximately € 500 million.

A company spokesman said according to the court ruling the amount seized has been cut to € 266 million from the previous € 750 million.

The Italian contractor had € 750 million seized by prosecutors in June 2007, as part of an investigation into alleged irregularities in managing waste treatment contracts in the Campania region.

Maintaining it has always acted lawfully, Impregilo said in the statement that it has instructed its lawyers to lodge an immediate appeal against the Naples court's ruling.
