A Geda construction hoist has assisted craftsmen working on the restoration of the North Tower of Munich’s Frauenkirche, now returned to its former glory after five years of work.

The Bavarian lift manufacturer supplied a Geda Multilift P18 Comfort to transport workers up and down the North Tower. Used throughout the duration of the construction work, the lift was assembled to a height of 90 m and included 23 different stops. An integrated landing call box with digital display meant that users could easily select which floor they required, just as in a domestic lift.

The hoist was also equipped with the speed-dependent Geda safety gear and overload protection, as well as limit switches at the top and bottom levels. Geda landing-level safety gates were fitted on each floor.

Now that the North Tower is once again free of scaffolding, the team will begin to plan for work on the South Tower, which will commence in autumn 2013.
