Genie introduces calibration tool kit

A new calibration tool kit available from Genie Parts is designed to make it easier and faster for service personnel to carry out a full load calibration test of boom lifts equipped with the manufacturer’s digital Load Sense.

Genie Load Sense tool kit

First introduced in 2017, Genie digital Load Sense has no linkages, no springs and no actuating parts. It continuously monitors the weight in the platform and adjusts the operating envelope according to the boom lift’s load chart.

“Now, testing the Load Sense system — part of the machine’s annual inspection — is getting even easier and quicker with the introduction of a new calibration tool kit,” said Amalija Kopac, Genie product manager. “The Genie calibration tool kit delivers the ability to conduct the full load calibration without the hassle of putting physical weights in the platform, which can be time consuming. Using the kit, testing and calibration can now be performed in less than 10 minutes by one person.”

In addition to testing the load sense system as part of the annual inspection, if a platform component is replaced due to damage, a zero-load calibration can be performed to verify that Load Sense is operating correctly. By following 10 simple steps and using the kit, zero load calibration can be completed in as little as 30 seconds.

The kit, which will be available globally and is compatible with most Genie boom lifts equipped with the digital load sense system, includes approved rigging, scale, chain hoist, and instruction manual — all contained in a portable carrying case. The chain hoist is used to put tension on the scale to apply the appropriate calibration weight.

The Load Sense Calibration Kit is available now in North America and is expected to be available in the EMEARI Region (Europe, Middle East, Africa, Russia & India) before the end of 2021.
