Gordon Bow Plant Hire has purchased 10 new Volvo excavators in order to renew its rental fleet.

The Scotland-based rental company, which provides operated and non-operated plant, invested £5 million (US$6.4 million) in the new 14 t machines.

Supplied by Volvo SMT, the new EC140E excavators are equipped with Miller Scoop buckets and PowerLatch couplers.

The model has a maximum rigging reach of 8.3 m (27 ft) and a maximum digging depth of 5.5 m (18 ft). According to manufacturer Volvo, the EC140E incorporates the latest technology in order to reduce fuel emissions and consumption while also offering improved productivity.

Jason Taylor, business development manager for Gordon Bow Plant Hire, said: “The Volvo product has a good reputation in the marketplace for reliability and build quality, so this combined with the quality of Miller’s attachments makes an efficient combination for our rejuvenated fleet.”

The new machines join the company’s 70-strong fleet of 1.5 to 30 t excavators.
