10 July 2017

German manufacturer of wireless crane control systems, HBC-radiomatic, is celebrating 70 years since it was founded. To mark the event the company threw a large party for its employees and their families. It also opened the doors of its state-of-the-art components production site and gave tours of the facilities to friends, family and the media.

The company was launched in 1947 by radio pioneers Alfred Huber and Martin Brendel. Over the last 70 years it has grown to now have around 450 employees. Today, over 60 percent of the company’s systems are produced for export and HBC-radiomatic’s sales and service network extends to over 40 countries around the world.

Although HBC-radiomatic is now a global technology company it has always remained in the German town of Crailsheim, where it was launched. It sees the town as home and from this base it seeks to foster a real sense of family within the organisation. Also, as the company develops and manufactures around 90 percent of its radio system components at its own premises in the town, it says it can guarantee the quality of everything – from individual components to finished control systems. In addition, the company says it invests a lot into training its staff. It takes on 40 trainees every year and offers additional training for existing employees.

With such investment in these values, HBC-radiomatic looks well set to enjoy many more anniversary celebrations.
