Drone software specialist HCSS has released an updated version of its drone-based data analytics platform, HCSS Aerial.

Designed for use on civil projects, HCSS Aerial is an automated software service that allows construction firms to monitor the progress and quality of their projects, by providing up to date information, survey-grade models and maps throughout the lifecycle of an asset.

The software, which is accessible via the cloud, now features design visualisation and digital inspection improvements.

These provide an enhanced “look and feel” of 2D design models, which can now also be displayed in 2D clamped to the ground.

The company said, “This feature doesn’t only check for duplicated image names but analyzes location data and time of capture for superior detection.

“The upload wizard also warns you of images that do not have complete GPS information. These alerts help you avoid re-processing models, save valuable time, and, most importantly, get the most accurate results.”

Other new features include auto-georeferencing models that now support RTK flights and Enforced Checkpoint Marking for improved accuracy reports.

According to the company, the software will now only set Ground Control Points as checkpoints if these are marked on at least two different images.

JP Giometti, HCSS executive director for Global Strategy and Corporate Development, said, “Every week, our customers are flying their drones and processing thousands of images across multiple sites. They are finding new ways to leverage this technology across the project life cycle.

“As we integrate HCSS Aerial data with other HCSS products, and we add our proven customer support and professional services capabilities, we are building a unique heavy-civil data analytics platform that will bring automation and insights to the industry for better decision making.”
