HSS Hire won the tool, equipment and plant hire company of the year award in the Hire Association Europe (HAE)/Event Hire Association (EHA) annual UK and Ireland awards. It also won awards for the best website and for its contribution to environmental issues.

Other winners were Seddons (Plant and Engineers), which was supplier of the year; Speedy Hire (hire catalogue of the year); Lavendon Access Services (excellence in training award); and A-Plant (best contribution to health and safety)

The HAE/EHA awards are for the UK and Irish rental sector and are not to be confused with the European Rental Awards, which are jointly organised by European Rental Association/International Rental News and will be announced in Manchester on Tuesday 26 May.

The other winners at the HAE event in London were Oasis Tent Hire (excellence in customer care); Hewden (the employee/team of the year); and Bosch, whose GWS 24-230 LVI angle grinder was adjudged the best product of the year.

Quadrant Visual Solutions (event hire company of the year, multiple outlets) and Allens Catering Hire Services (single outlet event rental company), were winners in the events sector awards.

HAE and EHA managing director Graham Arundell said, "We felt it important that, with so much work going on in terms of standards, professionalism and delivery, we continue to provide an arena where people can tangibly demonstrate to their peers, and to those outside of the immediate industry, the level of achievement and innovation that's out there."
