Harford Minerals expands with recycled aggregates

Aggregates provider Harford Minerals is to expand its facilities with the addition of a new wet processing plant for construction, demolition and excavation (CD&E) waste.

Located north of Baltimore in Maryland, USA, the company provides aggregates, recycling and landfill services to contractors and businesses in Washington DC, Virginia, and Pennsylvania.
Its “multi-million dollar” wet processing plant, which is due to be commissioned later this year, will be used to produce washed coarse sand, fine sands and various sizes of multipurpose aggregate products.
The addition of the new facility marks an important stage in Harford’s growth plan and its recycling efforts. It will also create new opportunities for the business, by enabling it to partner with public and private companies that are looking to process material from local construction projects.
Harford ordered its new plant from Northern Ireland-based manufacturer CDE Global, with discussions regarding the equipment’s specification conducted online due to the pandemic.
The wet processing plant will include CDE Global’s AggMax technology for optimum product yield and will feature EvoWash screens, which separates small sand and gravel fractions using an integrated high-frequency dewatering screen, sump and hydroclones.
CDE Global said the products produced by the wet plant, which can be tailored to individual customer specifications, enables recycled materials to “be reintroduced into the local construction industry as sustainable alternatives to virgin quarried materials”.
