Spider specialist Hinowa has launched a 23.2 m maximum working height spider, the LightLift 23.12. The 3000 kg machine is the Italian company's tallest ever, and it offers 11.4 m of maximum outreach as well.

Maximum working height and outreach can be achieved with a 120 kg payload in the basket. A 200 kg payload reduces the working height to 21.78 m and outreach to 9.61 m.

Seen in prototype at Platformers' Days in Hohenroda, Germany, the 23.12 has Hinowa's first-ever automatic self-leveling feature. Also first in this expansion of the LightLift line is remote monitoring and diagnostic capability, provided by a SIM card that links the new model´s control system to a remote computer.

The remote linking feature is an option, said Kurt Pfanner, sales manager for Hinowa's German agent, Dorn Lift GmbH, at Hohenroda. He said the first two prototypes of the model, planned for exhibition and sales demo use, have the feature, as will the first five production models, all sold to two German rental companies and due for delivery beginning in late November.

Mr Pfanner said the machine is a "completely new design". Noteworthy is its double-knuckle main boom, extended by a single hydraulic cylinder, to provide a vertical movements up to 11 m and a maximum up-and-over height of approximately 9.5 m.

Width in transport configuration is 990 mm, width with deployed outriggers is 4 m. Transport height is 1.984 m.

Standard power source is Honda iGX 440 petrol engine and 2.2 kW electric motor. Optional are a Perkins 402.05 diesel engine and a 5 kW electric motor.
